Welcome my first Guide
the Guide to having Illegal Fun when sniping
Sniping has changed a little from MW2 and hopefully I can help with your gameplay. Twisted Evil

Perks
Tier 1

There is really only one option: Ghost.
This makes you invisible on the radar, even when the spyplanes are about, except when firing. The pro versionmakes you undetectable by aircraft, infrared and sentries. Plus enemies won't see your name or a red crosshair when targeting you.

Other possible options are Lightweight, to help with getting to and from cover by increasing your jogging speed and the pro version stops damage from falling off that narrow ledge that you saw on that youtube video!

And also Hardline, to make killstreaks quicker to obtain… basically the spyplane is 2 kills not 3. Pro version allows you to randomly change your killstreak reward if you don’t like it.

Tier 2
All the perks have their uses here!
Hardened, to increase bullet penetration through walls, but doesn’t increase damage. Pro Versionincreases bullet damage to Aircraft/Turrets, and reduces the ‘Flinch’ effect when shot.
Scout. Makes your Steady breathing last longer, which can be useful, it depends on how often you use the Hold Breath. Pro Version makes it quicker to change weapons.
Steady Aim. Increases Hip Fire accuracy, can be useful when turning corners etc. Pro Version lets you aim faster after sprinting and recovers quicker after knifing. Useful for more pro-active sniper and quickscopers.
Sleight Of Hand. Makes reloading quicker, which can help when you are on the move etc. Pro Version makes you ADS quicker (EXCEPT WITH A SNIPER RIFLE… SO SECONDARY WEAPON ONLY!)
Warlord. Your Primary weapon can have 2 attachments, useful for suppressors. Pro Version allows you to start with an extra lethal grenade and an extra tactical grenade (EXCEPT Willy Pete Smoke)

Tier 3
There is only one that I use (Ninja) but the others are also good options for different gametypes.
Ninja. Makes you quieter while walking and jumping, etc (ONLY QUIETER). Pro Version makes you TOTALLY SILENT and increases the noise made by enemies.
Second Chance. When you die you fall to the ground and are allowed to use your pistol. You die 10 seconds later, or if you take another shot. Pro Version gives you more time, and gives teammates a chance to Revive you
Hacker. Allows you to spot enemy equipment eg claymores in bright red. Pro version lets you ‘hack’ enemy equipment to make it yours, this takes time, just like planting a bomb. Pro Also makes you invisible to motion sensors.

Weapons
There are 4 Sniper Rifles, although you could use any other Primary weapon, I will focus on Snipers. They all have a slightly slower ADS time of 0.4 seconds, and take about 3.5 seconds to reload from empty. Accuracy is slightly affected by your stance, with lying prone being most accurate, but there is not much difference (this could account for hitmarkers). The Semi-Auto snipers have a 235 RPM if you can pull the trigger and aim that fast!
Dragunov. It is the first gun for sniper, available for free at Lvl 4. It is a 1 shot kill to Head, Neck and Upper chest. 2 shot kill to Stomach and Limbs. Semi-Automatic with medium vertical kick, and a very slight kick to the right, joint slowest to re-centre. 10 round magazine.
WA2000. The second sniper is available at lvl 10 for 2000CP. Again 1 shot kill to Head, Neck and Chest with 2 shots to Stomach and Limbs. Semi-Auto with same recoil as Dragunov, so medium up, slightly to right, but faster to re-centre. 6 round magazine.
L96A1, Available at level 27 is the beautiful bolt action; with a thumbhole stock (yes I do love this gun!). 1 shot kill to Head, Neck, Chest AND! Stomach, with just 2 shots for the limbs. Very high recoil, strongly to right (Cycling Bolt) Joint slowest to re-centre. 5 round magazine and just 60 RPM due to bolt action.
PSG-1. Last Sniper to be unlocked (when you buy all the snipers!) 1 shot kill to Head, Neck and Chest, 2 shots to Stomach and Limbs (although if the enemy is slightly injured, one shot to stomach due to slight damage increase). High Recoil Up and to the Right, but fastest to re-centre. 5 round magazine

Secondaries
Pistols
ASP. Available at start, Normal damage, fastest RPM (if you’re quick enough), Normal recoil with quickest reload and fastest raise/lower time. 7 round magazine.
M1911. Available from start, Normal damage, Normal recoil, Normal reload speed and normal RPM and raise/lower speed. 7 round magazine.
Makarov. Available from start, Normal Damage, Normal Recoil, Normal Reload speed, Normal RPM and Raise/Lower speed. 8 round magazine.
Python. Available at Lvl 18. High Damage (normal with snub-nose attachment) High straight recoil, but fastest to re-center, Normal RPM, Slowest reload (round by round) but almost normal with speed reloader attachment, fast raise/lower speed and 6 shots. Snub-Nose raises accuracy, but drops damage to normal.
CZ75. A freebie as soon as you buy Python. Normal damage (drops to lowest when full-auto attachment added), Normal recoil, normal RPM (strangely, lowest with full auto), normal reload, normal raise/lower speed. 12 round magazine.

Secondary Attachments…
Suppressor. M1911, Makarov and CZ75 only. Lowers damage after 10m. When you fire you don’t appear on radar (unless spyplane is overhead and you don’t have ghost) lowers sound of gunshot.
Extended Mags. M1911, Makarov and CZ75 only, 500CP. Adds extra bullets to magazine. M1911 goes from 7 to 14 Makarov goes from 8 to 12 CZ75 goes from 12 to 18
Upgraded Iron Sights. All except Python. Adds White (Tritium) Dots onto sights to try and improve accuracy. Helps most in low light. Only 250CP so just try it out!
Full-Auto. CZ75 Only, 2000CP. Lower damage and RPM, but it is full-auto. Use only if you aren’t quick on the trigger.
Snub-Nose. Python Only. Lowers Damage, but increases range, and accuracy. Not that useful for a pistol as it is a close range weapon.
Speed-Reloader. Python Only. Increases reload speed, very useful for Single Python (Dual Wield has a glitch which means you reload fast anyway).
Acog. Python Only. Makes the python more powerful at longer distances. Useful for HardCore mode, but the kick can prevent getting the second shot in core mode. I say avoid except for those fun matches!
Dual Wield. Available for all pistols. Allows you to use 2 pistols, doubling firepower. Removes ADS, so hipfire only, reducing accuracy. It also takes longer to switch wepons except with CZ75 (Python reloads quickly with dual wield like speed reloader).

Weapon Info from Black Ops | DenKirson on Xanga
Thanks to Den Kirson, who provides this info for COD 4, WAW, MW2, BO, BFBC1 and BFBC2

Launchers
To be honest I only use these while getting Ghost Pro, but check other guides to see which you prefer.

Special
Ballistic Knife. Unlocked at Lvl 15. Very good and 1 shot kill, if you are accurate enough with it. Not enough shots to use as a secondary.
Crossbow. Unlocked at Lvl 33. Good fun, but practically useless for a sniper.

Equipment
Camera Spike. Good for covering you back, or placing in your line of sight as it is thermal imaging.
Motion Sensor. Gives a small permanent UAV on your mini-map, but doesn’t detect Hacker Pro.
C4. You get two, and are great for placing on flags and objectives. Can also cover your back, but you have to press the button! You can also set traps to stop enemies running towards you.
Jammer. Screws up the enemy’s mini-map when they are nearby. However good opponents will hunt you down.
Tactical Insertion. Only good for defending objectives etc. clever enemies will wait for you to spawn to get a cheap kill.
Claymore. Very good for covering your back, make sure it is slightly hidden though, as people can spot obvious ones.

Thanks for reading
