Complete Stoner63 Guide
The Stoner63
Introduction
The Stoner 63 is a "Classified" weapon, meaning it is unlocked by buying all other light machine guns. This is the most uber-powerful weapon in Black Ops. It has a very high rate of fire and extremely low/moderate recoil, rivaling that of the FAMAS. It's only drawback is a small magazine size, but many users easily counter this by using Scavenger or Extended Mags. The relatively high damage is mated with low recoil and a high fire rate. But that's not all. Despite being a LMG, the Stoner63 has and is the only LMG to have the same reload time and ADS time as Assault rifles. This makes it useful for almost all types of combat and all types of situations. At long and medium ranges, the low recoil makes it a little easier to control than most weapons, but burst firing is the better choice. At close range, the Stoner63 is more fundamentally lacking. The Stoner63 has the highest damage of all the LMGs, but its damage is still lower than most weapons - so be careful - Stoners usually lose close range fights.
In close quarters, like all LMGs, the Stoner63 suffers from a poor hipfire accuracy, though this can be remedied with Steady Aim. As said above, the Stoner 63 has characteristics of an assault rifle. Well, also in Create-A-Class 2.0, it is held by the character model as though it were an assault rifle rather than a LMG. Unfortuantely, there are not a lot of attachments to play around with on the Stoner, so a sight is never a bad choice. However, because of the assault rifle like magazine, one can overpower his Stoner63 by installing Extended Mags, especially since the Stoner's iron sights are pretty good. Install the Warlord perk and you'll have sights and Extended Mags, the only possible combination of different attachments with this weapon. You'll have precision, power, and extended magazines. Take note that suppressors are not available for the Stoner.

Basic Ways/Techniques/Fighting Styles with the Stoner63
Assault-
The is the most basic fighting style. Just run around and blow up everything you see. Scavenger, Sleight of Hand, and/or Warlord are recommended. Use the basic tactics listed in the Introduction.
Tactical Sniping -
This is perfect with the Stoner63. Have on Infrared Scope and Steady Aim Pro and you're all set! Close ranges aren't a problem thanks to the handy high fire rate. At long range, just burst fire. You won't need more than 3 bullets to kill someone. And with the Stoner and it's fire rate, high killstreaks should be a breeze. Extended Mags aren't necessary since you're tactical sniping and you won't be running around that much. Use the tier 2 perk on something else. There are 2 choices for equipment: TI or Claymore. If you're aiming for higher killstreaks, Claymores are better choices. TIs are for those who are lazier and really don't feel like taking the trouble to run all the way from a spawn point. Tactical Sniping for the Stoner63 is highly recommended.

NOTICE: It should be noted that the Stoner63 is at times subject to the frequent lag that occurs in Call of Duty Black Ops. I do not know for sure if this was fixed in the recent patch, but I will get to you guys on that. Other guns that are sometimes affected by lag include the FAMAS, the RPK, and the AUG.
